Strategic Planning

The Strategic Planning Unit is responsible for managing the organisationsPartnership1 strategic planning framework. The unit is also responsible for preparing regular performance evaluation reports for the Policing Authority on national performance against policing plan targets.

The Strategic Planning Unit’s remit includes:

  1. Development of Strategy Statements            
  2. Development of Annual Policing Plans             
  3. Completion of 3 Year Reviews                     
  4. Drafting Policing Plan Monthly, Quarterly and Half-Yearly Performance Reports
  5. Provide Secretarial Support to the Garda Audit Committee
  6. Support all aspects of Strategy and Planning

Appointment to the unit is based upon completion of a Masters in Criminal Justice/Inspection and Oversight at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (New York) or similar qualification. Unit members have a broad range of operational and administrative policing experience. The unit reports to the Executive Director Strategy and Transformation.
