Two men arrested - burglary in Beaumont, Dublin on the 28/6/17

Gardaí have arrested two men and recovered cash following a burglary at the home of a couple in their 80s in the Beaumont area of Dublin.

The burglary occurred at 2pm on the 28th June when the couple had returned to their home following a visit to their local bank. They had withdrawn money which was intended to pay for a family holiday. As the entered their home a man approached from their driveway. This man allegedly assaulted the couple and then fled the scene with the cash. The couple were not seriously injured but were badly bruised and traumatised.

Following extensive investigations Gardaí stopped a car at 12.40pm on the Swords Road on the 29th June and the two occupants, a man in his 30s and a man in his 40s were arrested. They are detained at Clontarf under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984. In a follow up search Gardaí recovered a quantity of cash.
