Male charged with Theft and Fraud Offences in Cork City on the 3/1/17

Gardaí in Anglesea Street today charged a 45 year old male in connection with a number of offences under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001 following his arrest in Cork City earlier this morning.

The man appeared before Cork City District Court, this afternoon, Tuesday 3rd January 2017 where he was remanded on bail to appear again before Cork City District Court on Thursday 16th February 2017.  

The investigation by Gardaí commenced in 2014 on receipt of a complaint regarding offences under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001. The male was originally arrested on the 10th December 2015 and detained at Mallow Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 as amended. He was released from Garda custody without charge and a file was prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, who directed that he be charged with a number of offences under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.
