Fatal Traffic Collision Co. Monaghan 7th January 2017

Gardaí in Castleblayney are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Co. Monaghan.   

The collision occurred on the N2 at Clonavogy near Castleblayney shortly after 1pm when a female pedestrian, aged 55 years, was struck by a car. The woman was treated by Emergency Services personnel at the scene and taken by Air Ambulance to St. James’s Hospital, Dublin where she was later pronounced dead. A second pedestrian (male 60 years) also stuck by the car sustained minor injuries. The occupants of the car were uninjured.  

The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to examine the scene. The Coroner has been notified of the death.
