Drug seizure in Co Meath on the 31/1/17

As part of ongoing joint investigations targeting Organised Crime Groups operating in this jurisdiction, a Joint Intelligence Led Operation was conducted by the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service, the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Special Crime Task Force supported by officers from the Eastern Region. 
As part of this Operation a number of persons and vehicles were intercepted in the Ashbourne area of Meath at approximately 4.00pm on Tuesday 31st January 2017. A business premises in this location was also searched.  

During this stop and search operation approximately 160 kilos of Cannabis Herb was seized. Four Irish males, aged between 25 and 61 were arrested for drug trafficking offences and are currently detained at Finglas and Kells Garda Stations under the provisions of drug trafficking legislation.   The street value of the controlled drugs seized in this investigation is estimated at €3.2 million. 
  
Joint Investigations by Revenue and An Garda Siochana are continuing both domestically and internationally with regard to this significant seizure of controlled drugs destined for the Irish Market.
