Drugs Seizure and Arrest Co Meath 11th April 2017

Gardaí have seized 15kgs of Cannabis and arrested a man during a joint operation with Revenue Customs Service.

The discovery was made when Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped and searched a van at an industrial estate near Dunboyne this afternoon. Cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €300,000 (analysis pending) was seized and a man in his 30s was arrested.   The arrested man is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ashbourne Garda Station. (He can be detained for up to seven days.)

The investigation is ongoing and updates will follow.

Joint investigations by An Garda Siochana and Revenue Customs Service are continuing both domestically and internationally with regard to this seizure of controlled drugs destined for the Irish Market.
