Robbery of CIT van at Donaghmeade Shopping Centre, Dublin 13 on the 9/11/16

Gardaí in Coolock arrested two males yesterday in connection with a robbery at Donaghmeade Shopping Centre Dublin 13 on the 9th November 2016.

At approximately 3.10pm on the 9th November 2016 a lone male approached a staff members of a Cash in Transit van as they were making a delivery of coins to a premises at Donaghmeade Shopping Centre. The staff member was threatened by the suspect who was in possession of an iron bar, the suspect made off with two bags of coins. He got into a waiting car. This was found a short time later abandoned at Carndonagh Road, Donaghmeade.

At 4pm on the same date Gardaí from Coolock Detective unit were on enquiries in Moyne Park, Coolock. While there Gardaí became involved with an altercation with two males who were subsequently detained and brought to Coolock Garda station and subsequently released. From enquiries carried out by investigating Gardaí these two males (28 and 33 years) were immediately re-arrested in relation to the investigation into the earlier robbery at Donaghmeade Shopping Centre. They are currently detained at Coolock and Swords Garda stations under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Gardaí carried out follow-up searches at Moyne Park and discovered what they believe is the proceeds of the earlier robbery. Investigations are on going.
