Road reopened - Fatal road traffic collision at Doolin, Clare on the 31/5/16

The Lisdoonvarna to Kilrush road (R478),has reopened following the earlier fatal collision.

Gardaí in Ennistymon, Co. Clare are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in Co. Clare on the 31st May 2016.

The collision occurred at approximately 4.45pm on the Lisdoonvarna to Kilrush road (R478) the scene of the collision is 8km outside Kilrush, the road is locally known as the Coast Road. A car was in collision with a motor cyclist. The front seat passenger of the car, a male (35 years) was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the morgue in Limerick. The male driver and a female passenger (both in their mid 30's) were also injured in the collision and taken to Galway University Hospital and Limerick Hospitals. Their injuries are described as non life threatening. The motorcyclist  was seriously injured and is being treated at Limerick Hospital.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination and local diversions are in place.
