Attempted robbery at shop on Terenure Road, Dublin 6W on the 30/6/16

Gardaí in Terenure investigating an attempted robbery at a shop on Terenure Road West, Dublin 6w on the 30th June 2016 have charged a male.

At approximately 6.20pm a male wearing a hat and scarf entered the shop and threatened staff and demanded cash. He was in possession of two knives.  The suspect left the shop without taking anything and ran in the direction of Lavarna Grove. Two Gardaí who were out on mobile patrol observed a male running from the shop and followed him on foot, the male they observed was in  possession of two knives. Both Gardaí confronted him on Lavarna Grove, where he was disarmed and arrested. Gardaí observed a waiting car and arrested a female passenger. Both were taken to Terenure Garda Station and detained under the provisions of  Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

The male (21 years) was charged and will appear before Court no. 3, Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street on the 1st July 2016. The female (23 years) was released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
