Arrest - assault at Dame Street, Dublin 0n the 25/6/16

Gardai investigating an assault on Dame Lane on the 25/06/16 have arrested a male.

The male in his late 20’s was arrested in the Dublin city area this morning and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Pearse Street Garda Station.

The male in his 30’s who was assaulted remains in Beaumont Hospital in what is described as a serious condition.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault on Dame Lane, Dublin 2 on the Saturday 25th June.

Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of an unconscious man by a member of the public at about 11.30pm. The man in his late 30s was found with serious head injuries, close to the entrance to a pub on Dame Lane.

Medical assistance was sought and the man was taken to James' Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont where he remains in a serious condition.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Dame Lane area between 11pm and 12 mid-night on 25th June, to contact them at Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 666 9000.
