Update - Fatal road traffic collision at Pallasgreen, Limerick on the 19/7/16

Gardai in Bruff investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning the 19th July 2016 on the main Limerick to Tipperary road N24, can confirm that the young child is that of a male, not a female as previously stated.

At approximately 8.35am on the 19th July 2016 Gardaí received a report of an incident at a house in Oola, Co Limerick. A female received a number of injuries and was taken by ambulance to Limerick University Hospital. Her injuries are believed to be a broken arm and a number of cuts that are not believed to be life threatening.
 
An adult male and child had left the house above and were involved in a collision on the Limerick to Tipperary road as outlined in the previous press release (694/16). The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted, the forensic collision examination is on going and it is expected that the road will remain closed until at least 4pm today.
 
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and a post mortem is expected to take place at Limerick University Hospital tomorrow the 20th July 2016.

Gardai in Bruff, Co Limerick are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning the 19th July 2016 on the main Limerick to Tipperary road N24.

The collision between a truck and a car occurred at approximately 8.30am, 1 mile from Brooks Bridge, on the Tipperary side of Pallasgreen. The driver of the truck was uninjured. The male driver and a young female child passenger were fatally injured in the collision and are still at the scene. There were no other passengers.
 
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators and local diversions are in place. The road will remain closed well into the afternoon.
