Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in Co. Sligo.
At approximately 1pm a female aged in her 50s was seriously injured when the motor cycle she was a passenger on collided with a car on the N16 (Sligo to Manorhamilton road) near Drumkinsellagh.
She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Her body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Sligo. The driver of the motor cycle, a male in his 50s, was also taken to hospital. His condition is understood to be serious. The occupants of the car were uninjured.
Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene. The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. The local coroner has been notified.
