Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N3 at Lisgrey, Virginia, Co Cavan this morning, Monday 18th January 2016 at approximately 7.15am.
A female pedestrian, aged in her early 80's, suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a van. She was taken to Cavan General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged.
The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.
