Update- Man shot in Finglas, Dublin pronounced dead on the 29/2/16

The man, aged in his 20’s, shot in Finglas this afternoon as passed away. Gardaí are now investigating his murder.

The man suffered a number of gunshot wounds shortly after 3pm this afternoon, Monday 29th February 2016 at McKee Road, Finglas. He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí wish to reiterate that they are appealing for witnesses.

The male was sitting in a white VW Golf car; he was alone in the car at the time of the shooting. A silver/grey VW Golf, 5 doors which had alloy wheels approached the male who was sitting in the white VW Golf car and a number of shots were discharged at the male. The silver/grey VW Golf then left the scene at speed towards Clune Rd and Jamestown Road, Finglas. No further direction of travel is known at this stage.

The scene has been sealed off for Technical Examination and it is been carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau. A SIO has been appointed. An incident room has been set up at Finglas Garda station.

Superintendent John Quirke at Finglas Garda station this evening has made the following appeal:

1. Any witnesses in the McKee Road area to come forward.
 
2. Anyone who saw a silver/Grey VW Golf in the Finglas area before or after the shooting.

3. A car has been found burnt out in the Victoria Bridge area on the Naas to Rathangan Road which may be involved in the shooting incident, this car has been preserved for a Technical Examination.

 
Superintendent Quirke is appealing for anyone who may have been in the Victoria Bridge area or may have any information on any of the points above to contact Gardai in Finglas on 01 6667500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

After 3pm today, the 29th February 2016 a shooting incident took place at McKee Rd, Finglas a male in his 20’s suffered a number of gunshot wounds and is currently in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital.

One man suffered apparent gunshot wounds. He has been brought to the Mater Hospital. His condition is described as serious.
