Drug seizure and arrest in Galway City on the 19/2/16

As part of an intelligence led operation Gardai from the Galway Drug Unit searched a house at Ballinfoyle Park, Headford Road, Galway on the 19th February 2016.

During the course of the search Gardai discovered 1,500 ectasy tablets approximate value €15,000, cannabis herb approximate value €10,000 and cocaine with an approximate street value of €5,000 (all the above subject to analysis).

A male (20 years) was arrested and is being detained at Mill Street (Galway) Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
