Update - Serious Injury Road Traffic Collision at Slane Road, Drogheda, Louth on the 21/8/16

The 13 year old male cyclist seriously injured in a collision on Saturday 21st August 2016 has died as a result of his injuries.

He died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda last night (23/8/16).

Gardai in Drogheda are seeking the assistance from any members of the public who travelled this road between 19.30hr and 20.30hr on the 21/08/16, and may be able to offer any further information or witnessed this collision to contact them on 041 9874200, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

On the 21/08/16 at approx. 20.30hr Gardai from Drogheda attended the scene of a collision between a motor car and a pedal cyclist on N51, Slane Road, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

The 13 year old male cyclist was conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda after suffering serious injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The scene of the collision, and part of the N51 Slane Road is currently sealed off and preserved pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Road diversions are in place until further notice.
