Update Operation Thor - Burglary in Carlow on the 4/8/16

The two men arrested by Gardaí during an operation targeting burglary and vehicle theft on the 4th of August are expected to appear before a sitting of Carlow District Court at 11am this morning (5/8/2016) charged in connection with the investigation.

Two men have been arrested by Gardaí during overnight operations targeting burglary and vehicle theft as part of Operation Thor.

At approximately 4.30am Gardaí from the Drugs Organised Crime Bureau with assistance from Gardaí attached to Finglas, Clondalkin and Carlow Garda Stations intercepted a 4x4 vehicle and a car on the Naas Road, Dublin. The 4x4 was taken earlier during a burglary in Co. Carlow. The drivers of the vehicles, both male and aged in their 30s, were arrested taken to Carlow Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

During follow up searches at an apartment complex in Tallaght a third car was recovered. The car was taken during the course of burglary in Tullow on the 3rd August.

Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.
