Drug seizure and arrests in Togher, Cork on the 25/8/16

As part of an ongoing intelligence led operation conducted by the Cork City Divisional Drug Unit into drug dealing activities in the Cork area two males (33 and 35 years) were stopped and searched in Togher.

During the search 2oz's of heroin (subject to analysis) with an approximate street value of €8,000 was seized. Both males were taken to Togher Garda station where they are being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

During a follow search of a property in Blarney, Gardaí discovered 3/4 of a kilo of heroin (subject to analysis) with an approximate street value of €110,000, a quantity of cocaine (subject to analysis) with an approximate street value of €1,000 was also seized. A male (35 years) was arrested and is being detained at Gurranabraher Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice( Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
