Drug Seizure and arrests in Co. Louth on the 20/8/16

On the 20th of August 2016 at approximately 15.15, as part of on-going investigations being conducted by An Garda Siochana and the Police Service of Northern Ireland targeting Cross Border criminal activity,

officers from  the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau  intercepted two UK registered vehicles on the M1 motorway just south of the border.

During this operation heroin ( pending analysis) with an estimated street value of  €210,000 was seized and three people, two males  aged 41 and 24  and one female aged 30, were arrested on suspicion of Drug Trafficking. 

 All three were detained for questioning under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Dundalk and Drogheda Garda Stations. 

All three are scheduled to appear in custody before  a Special Court sitting of Drogheda District Court to be held at 11.45 a.m. on Monday the 22/8/16 charged in connection with the seizure.

Follow up searches were conducted on both sides of the border following this joint investigation.
