Update - Karl Holmes Murder Investigation - Fatal Assault in Tallaght, Dublin on the 3/9/15

Gardai in Tallaght investigating the death of Karl Holmes on the 4th September 2015, can confirm, following the results of the Post mortem that they are now investigating the matter as Violent Disorder, Assault and a Public Order incident.

We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident and in particular to anyone who was in the Avonbeg Gardens area between 4.30pm and 6pm or anyone who may have any information to contact them in Tallaght on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station

Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for witnesses following the death of a 44-year-old man in Tallaght on the 3rd September 2015.

At approximately 17.25 hours Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene of an incident at Avonbeg Gardens, following reports of a dispute involving a number of males. On arrival a male was discovered on the street in an unconscious state. The man was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The deceased has since been named as 44-year-old Karl Holmes from Tallaght.

The scene at Avonbeg Gardens was preserved for a forensic and technical examination. The office of the Coroner and State Pathologist were notified. A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later today at the mortuary in Tallaght Hospital. An incident room has been established at Tallaght Garda Station and Garda family liaison officer has been appointed in the case and House to House enquiries are ongoing. Forensic examination of a number of houses have commenced

 
Superintendent Peter Duff at Tallaght Garda Station today is appealing for witnesses to this incident and in particularly he is appealing to anyone who was in the Avonbeg Gardens area between 16.30 to 18.00hrs yesterday to contact them.

Gardaí at Tallaght are investigating a fatal assault which occurred at Avonbeg Gardens, Tallaght , Dublin 24 at approximately 5.30pm today (Thursday 3rd September 2015).

A male (age not known) was seriously assaulted at the above location. He was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The scene is currently preserved. No arrests have been made.
