Stabbing incident in Galway city on the 6/9/15

Gardai in Galway City are investigating a number of incidents(including robbery, threatening behaviour and and a stabbing) in Galway City on the 6th Sept 2015 between 2am and 3am.

At approx 2.15am a male (38 years) reported to the Gardai that he had been threatened by a male with a knife on the Headford road, Gardai then received a call that two males(in their 20's) had been robbed and threatened at knife point and that 2 mobile phones and a wallet were taken, this incident occurred on the corner of Headford Road. The suspect left in the direction of Wood Quay.

Gardai were then made aware that a male(18 years) had received a stab wound to his stomach, this incident occurred at approx 2.30am on Wood Quay the injured party was taken to University College Hospital Galway where his condition is described as non life threatening.

Gardai received a description from a number of witnesses and a male fitting that description was arrested at 3am in Eyre Square and conveyed to Galway Garda station where he is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
