Fatal road traffic collision at Hollymount, Mayo on the 6/9/15

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Lehinch, Hollymount, County Mayo this afternoon, Sunday 6th September 2015 at approximately 1.30pm.

A man, 55 years, suffered fatal injuries when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van on the R331 between Claremorris and Hollymount, County Mayo. The man was pronounced dead at scene and his body was taken to Mayo General Hospital where a post mortem is to be arranged. The driver of the van was also taken to Mayo General Hospital as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
 
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who was travelling on the R331 between Hollymount and Claremorris, between 1pm and 1.30pm, 6th September 2015 to contact them at Claremorris Garda Station on 094 9372080, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
