Update - Shooting incident in Limerick on the 29/6/15

Gardai investigating the shooting incident which occurred in Castleroy, Co. Limerick this morning in which a male in his 50’s was seriously injured wish to renew their appeal to the public.

They are particularly interested in the movements of two cars over the last month or so, a red Ford Focus 132 D registration which was stolen in Dublin and a white English registration Volvo V60 estate. Both cars have been recovered.

 
Following technical examinations of the cars two firearms (handguns) have now been recovered. The injured male is described as being in a stable condition.

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating a shooting incident which occurred in Castleroy, Co. Limerick this morning (29th June 2015).


At approximately 6.50am a male (aged in his 50s) was approached by two armed and masked men as he parked his car in the grounds of the University of Limerick.  He was shot a number of times as he fled on foot. The males left the scene in a car. The injured male was taken by Ambulance to University Hospital Limerick. His condition is understood to be critical.

The scene is preserved for a technical and forensic examination.

A car understood to be connected with the incident was located on fire a shot distance away.

Gardai in Henry St. are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information to contact them on 061-212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
