Two men charged in connection with investigation into dissident republican activity on the 26/6/15

Gardaí have charged two men, aged 49 and 28 years, in connection with an investigation into dissident republican activity.

The men are due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court, Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin this evening Friday 26th June 2015 at 8.30pm.
The men were arrested on Wednesday 24th June 2015 at Forgney, close to Ballymahon, County Longford following the discovery of a suspected improvised explosive device in a vehicle.

The men were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended at Longford and Granard Garda Stations.


Two other men, late 20’s and late 40’s, arrested at the time have been released from Garda custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
