Witness Appeal for Serious Road Traffic Collision on the M9 - 3rd July, 2015

Gardai in Carlow are investigating a serious road traffic collision that occured on the southbound carriage of the M9 motorway between junction 4 (Castledermot, Co. Kildare) and junction 5 (Tinryland, Co. Carlow) yesterday evening Friday 3rd July, 2015 at approximately 7.30p.m.

A male truck driver (early 40s) had got out of his cab onto the hard shoulder of the motorway and was struck by a passing car. The truck driver was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital and is in a serious but stable condition. The male driver and his female passenger (both mid 30s) of the car were uninjured.

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Examination and has now reopened.
