Robbery and Arrest, Cloontuskert, Co. Roscommon 4th July, 2015

Gardaí have charged a man, 42 years, in connection with a robbery which occurred at Cloontuskert, County Roscommon yesterday evening, Saturday 4th July 2015 shortly after 8pm.

Gardaí in Roscommon received a report of a robbery at a shop in Cloontuskert, Roscommon yesterday evening, at approximately 8.10pm. A man entered the shop, and threatened two members of staff with a knife and left in a grey coloured car with a small amount of cash. No injuries were reported and the scene was preserved for technical examination.

A short time later this car was observed by Gardaí close to Longford. Gardaí successfully stopped this car and arrested the male driver, sole occupant. He was detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The man has been charged and remains in Garda custody and is due to appear before a special sitting of Roscommon District Court this evening, Sunday 5th July 2015 at 7pm.
