Renewed appeal on the 12th anniversary of the murder of Niall Mulvihill - 23/1/03

Gardaí at Store Street wish to renew their appeal to any member of the public with information in relation to the murder of Niall Mulvihill on the 23rd January 2003.

At approximately 9:30pm on the 23rd January 2003 a fatal shooting occurred at Spencer Dock Bridge, Dublin 1. The deceased, Niall Mulvihill, was driving from Upper Sheriff Street towards Seville Place in his red estate Mercedes Taxi. At Spencer Dock Bridge a dark coloured car pulled alongside and both vehicles stopped. A passenger in the dark vehicle approached Niall’s taxi and discharged a number of shots at close range from a handgun, fatally wounding Mr. Mulvihill.

The victim placed his hazard lights on and managed to drive up Seville Place through the junction of Seville Place and Amiens Street. He then continued up Portland Row onto the North Circular Road passing through two further major junctions until he was involved in a collision with a number of cars at the junction of North Circular Road / Dorset Street junction. Niall Mulvihill was removed by Dublin Fire Brigade to the Mater Hospital where he later pronounced dead.
