Witness appeal - Damage to filling station and burglary in Co. Louth on the 25/2/15

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to an incident in Ardee this morning during which a filling station was extensively damaged and to an earlier burglary in which three vehicles were taken.

At approximately 5.40am Gardai were alerted to a car on fire in the forecourt of Ferdia Service Station on the Kells Road, Ardee.  Fire Services attended and extinguished the blaze. No one was injured during the incident as the premises was closed at the time.

The car, a red Peugeot 3008, 11 LH registration, was reported taken from a house in Newtown, Co. Meath sometime between 12 midnight and 5am during the course of a burglary. Two other vehicles were also taken in the same burglary, a white Hyundai i30 Van, 141 D registration and a white VW Caddy van, 07 D registration.  The VW caddy van was later located at the graveyard in Drumconrath Village, Co. Meath. The Hyundai has not been recovered to date.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have seen these three vehicles early this morning travelling between Newtown and Ardee, its believed that they may have travelled in convoy. In addition anyone that may have seen activity in the forecourt of the service station this morning at approximately 5.40am or at the graveyard in Drumconrath  this morning are asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on  041 – 6871130, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
