Gardaí have arrested a fifth person in connection with the investigation into the fatal shooting of a man which occurred in the Greenhills area of Athy, County Kildare on Friday 20th August 2015.
The man, aged in his 30’s, was arrested this morning Friday 28th August 2015 in the County Kildare area and is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Naas Garda Station.
During this investigation Gardaí have recovered four firearms, a quantity of ammunition and controlled drugs in ongoing searches being carried out in the Athy area.
Three people, two men and one woman, arrested in connection with this investigation remain in Garda custody detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Naas, Kildare and Newbridge Garda Stations.
Two males, a juvenile and one aged in his late teens, have been released from Garda custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
