Gardaí at Ballymun in Dublin are investigating a number of incidents which occurred in the Glasnevin / Whitehall area of Dublin in the early hours of this morning (27/8/15).

It is understood that two men attempted to gain entry to a house in Whitehall but failed to do so, a short time later it is believed the same men attempted to gain entry to a shop in the Santry area but were unsuccessful. At approximately 6am Gardaí observed the men in a black 4 X 4 vehicle on Hillcrest Park, Glasnevin and signalled the vehicle to stop which it failed to do so.  Garda units followed this vehicle onto Glasnevin Park when it rammed a Garda Patrol car and sped from the scene. One member of An Garda Síochána was injured following this incident (injuries not serious).

In a follow-up operation Gardaí intercepted this vehicle in the Ashbourne area of Co Meath at 6.45am. Two men in their 20’s have been arrested and are currently detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.
