Fatal road traffic collision on the M1 at Monasterboice, Louth on the 9/4/15

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the M1 Motorway, Southbound between Junctions 11 (Monasterboice) and 10 (Drogheda North) this afternoon, Thursday 9th April 2015 at approximately 12.45pm.

A man, aged in his mid 40's, was pronounced dead at scene after the truck he was driving struck a van before colliding with the roadside embankment and overturned. His body has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post mortem is to be arranged. No other injuries have been reported.

A section of the M1 motorway remains closed to facilitate Emergency Services and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
