Garda Press Office

Gardai wish to advise motorists that the M50 North at junction 6 Blanchardstown is closed.

Traffic travelling North on the M50 is being diverted off  at Junction 6, down the N3 for a short stretch and back to rejoin the M50 at the onramp to the M50 North at Junction 6.

These diversions are due to a lorry carrying hay catching fire earlier. It is expected that this stretch of the M50 will remain closed for a number of hours to enable fire services to extinguish the fire and the  remove of the debris.

Motorists are being asked to avoid this stretch of the M50 North if possible and use alternative routes as there is very heavy traffic there at the moment.

Further updates will follow.
