Three arrests following Cork robbery 29th May 2014

Three people are in custody this evening, 29th May, following a robbery at a filling station in Cork City at 8.20pm.

Two masked men armed with knives held up staff at a service station on Leitrim Street and stole a quantity of cash.  The men left the scene in a car.  It was driven by another man and had a female passenger.

A Garda car patrolling in the area stopped the car and arrested three occupants a woman and two men ranging in ages from late 20s to mid 40s.  A forth person, a man, escaped on foot.  Gardaí recovered knives, balaclavas and cash in the car.

The three people arrested are currently detained at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Station, under section 4 of the criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The scene at the filling station is preserved for technical examination and the car has been seized for examination.
