Hijacking and arrests Ballymun 31/05/14

Gardai have arrested two people following a hijacking that occurred in Ballymun early this morning.

At approximately 12.15am this morning a pizza delivery man had his car taken at Marewood Drive, Ballymun. The 50 year old male driver was approached by a number of people as he was attempting to make a delivery.  A male forced the driver out of the car before driving away with a female accomplice. The driver was uninjured.  

A short time later a garda patrol car observed the car driving on St Helanas Road in Finglas. The car was driven to Cloonlara Cresent where it was abandoned. A 24 year old male and a 30 year old female were arrested at the scene.  

They were both detained in Ballymun Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 before appearing before Court number 2, The Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon charged in connection with the incident.
