Armed robbery Drogheda Co. Louth 30th May 2014

Gardaí have arrested a male and recovered a sum of money following an armed robbery in Drogheda, Co. Louth on the 30th May 2014.

At approximately 1545 hours two males armed with a hand gun and a knife entered a financial institution on West St., Drogheda. They threatened and held up staff before taking an undisclosed sum of cash. On leaving the premises an off duty Garda approached and managed to detain one of the raiders. The second male fled the scene on a motor cycle.
 
The male (aged in his late 40s) arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Drogheda Garda Station.

No shots were fired during the incident and all of the cash taken in the raid was recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
