Update - Investigation in Co. Wicklow - four arrested on the 28/7/14

Gardaí have arrested a 5th male following a burglary at a house in Dunlavin yesterday afternoon.

The male (aged in his early 20's) was arrested shortly after midday today (29/7/2014) during a search operation near Blessington. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Blessington Garda Station.

Shortly before 2pm yesterday afternoon (28/7/2014) Gardaí received a report of a burglary at a house in Dunlavin. The owner of the house returned following an alarm activation and disturbed a number of intruders who fled the scene.  During a follow up operation Gardaí assisted by the Air Support Unit arrested four males a short distance away. A shotgun and a small amount of cash taken during the incident was recovered. The four males (aged in their late teens and early 20s) were taken to Bray Garda station where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Three of the males arrested were brought before a sitting of Tallaght District Court this morning (29/7/2014) charged in connection with the incident while a fourth male was released without charge – a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The investigation is ongoing.
