Firearm seized and male arrested in Dundalk, Louth on the 27/1/14

Gardaí at Dundalk have seized a firearm and arrested a man, 33 years, following an incident which occurred at Barrack Street, Dundalk, on Monday 27th January 2014 at approximately 7pm.

Gardaí, responding to a call of public order at Barrack Street, arrested the man after he became violently aggressive. On searching a bag that was in the man’s possession, Gardaí found it to contain a firearm. 
 

The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939-’98 at Dundalk Garda Station. 
 

Six ‘locking’ knives were also seized during this incident. The firearm was removed for forensic examination.
