Rescue Operation at Bray Head, Wicklow on the 28/12/14

At approximately 5pm this evening (Sunday December 28th 2014) a 22 year old female contacted the Garda Control Centre indicating that she was lost and disorientated with her surroundings on Bray Head. Gardai immediately contacted their colleagues at Bray Garda Station and the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team.

Contact was maintained with this lady via her mobile phone and the Garda Air Support Unit was summonsed. The 22 year old female was asked to turn on a touch which she had in her possession to indicate to the Air Support Unit her location. A search commenced by the Garda ASU and within a very short period of time the Garda ASU located this lady using a Night Sun (light) which is fitted to the Aircraft. The ASU remained overhead to allow the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team to reach and rescue her. The female was taken into the care of the Mountain Rescue team and suffered no injuries during her ordeal.
