Appeal for information - Murder of Belinda Pereira on the 29/12/1996

On the 18th anniversary of the murder of Belinda Pereira, Gardai at Store Street in Dublin wish to renew their appeal for information in relation to this investigation.

26-year-old Belinda was briefly staying in an apartment at Mellor's Court in Liffey Street, Dublin 1 when, on 29th December 1996, she was found dead following an attack. She had arrived in Ireland from London on Christmas Eve (1996) and had been planning to return to Britain on New Year's Day.

Detectives involved in this enquiry understand that people may still, even after eighteen years, be reluctant to come forward with information regarding Belinda's death. Investigating officers know that there are people who were close to the persons involved at the time and have details which would give some closure to the victims family.

The person(s) who killed Belinda and who assisted in this murder have most likely spoken to people about what happened, perhaps expressing sorrow and regret at having left a young woman in the way that they did.

Investigating Gardai are appealing to those people to do the right thing, make contact now and provide the information in their possession to the Incident Room at Store Street Garda Station 01 6668000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
