Arrest - Shooting Incident in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick on the 13/8/14

Gardai in Newcastle West investigating the shooting incident that occured outside a house in the Castleview Estate yesterday afternoon at 3.30p.m. have made an arrest.

The man, 25 years, was arrested in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 14th August, 2014 and is currently detained under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Newcastle West Garda Station.

Gardai in Newcastle West are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside a house in the Castleview Estate, Newcastle West this afternoon at approximately 3.30pm. 

A male and a female in their early 30's were injured when a lone gunman approached them and discharged a firearm. The gunman then fled the scene in a car which is believed to have been driven by a second male.

The male and female were both taken to Hospital with what are described as non life threatening injuries. The male was airlifted to Cork University Hospital and the female taken to University Hospital Limerick. The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
