Fatal road traffic collision, N1 Drogheda, Sunday 27th October 2013

Gardaí at Drogheda are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the old N1, 5 miles north of Drogheda, on Sunday 27th October 2013, at approximately 8.30pm.

 

A male pedestrian, 19 years, was fatally injured when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross the road. The male driver of the vehicle (sole occupant) was uninjured.

 

The deceased was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where a full post mortem is to be arranged.

 

The Monasterboice exit from the M1 travelling south was closed over night to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
