Passport Office Investigation

Gardaí have released without charge a woman in her 30s detained as part of an investigation into irregularities with the issue of passports.

The woman was arrested on 23rd July 2013 in Dublin and was taken to Ballymun Garda station where she was detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.  A file is being prepared for the Director of Public prosecutions.

Following communications with management from the Passport Services, Passport Office, Molesworth St., Dublin 2, an investigation was commenced by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigations. 

On the morning of the 23rd July 2013 shortly after 7am a man in his 30s was arrested in Skerries, Co Dublin. He was taken to Balbriggan Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. He was released on the 24th July without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
