Irregularities in the issuance of passports - 23/7/13

Following communications with management from the Passport Services, Passport Office, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 an investigation was commenced by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

On the morning of the 23rd July 2013 shortly after 7am a male (30yrs) was arrested in Skerries, Co Dublin he was taken to Balbriggan Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.  He was released on the 24th July without charge and a file is being prepared for the  Director of Public Prosecutions.


As part of this investigating a female (30yrs) was arrested on the afternoon of the 23rd July 2013 in Dublin and was conveyed to Ballymun Garda station where she is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.  The investigation is ongoing.
 
 
The investigation  relates to irregularities in the issuance of passports.  Investigations are ongoing and we have no further information at this stage.
