Update on Fatal Shooting of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe, 25th January 2013

It has now been over forty eight hours since the tragic death of our colleague Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe at Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan, Jenkinstown, Dundalk, Co. Louth.

An Garda Síochána would like to acknowledge the huge amount of public support we have received since the tragic event.  This support means a great deal to the family, friends and colleagues of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe and is a source of great comfort at this difficult time.

We have in excess of over one hundred Gardaí involved, included specialist national and regional units.  We are liaising closely with our colleagues in the PSNI and acknowledge their support and assistance.

An Garda Síochána continues its significant investigation into the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe and would like to renew our appeal for the information, in particular:

Any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan, Jenkinstown,  Dundalk, Co. Louth between the hours of 6.30pm and 9.30pm on Friday 25th January 2013.

Anyone who observed a dark coloured car leaving the scene of the murder driving in an erratic manner, heading towards Ravensdale Roundabout in the general direction of Dundalk close to the M1 motorway.

Anyone who observed a Volkswagen Passat, which was located, burnt out on the Keady to Newtownhamilton Road in Co. Armagh yesterday morning Sunday 27th January 2013.

Note to Editor:

A technical examination of the Volkswagen Passat located in Co. Armagh is ongoing and it’s involvement in this crime is undetermined at this time.

An Garda Síochána will continue to provide regular updates as deemed appropriate.
