Two charged - Cannabis seizure and arrest in Co Leitrim on the 4/2/13

In relation to the seizure of cannabis plants in County Leitrim on the 4th Feb 2013, two males (41 and 44yrs) have been charged.

They will appear before Donegal Town District Court at 10.30am this morning, the 6th February 2013.

As part of an on-going investigation Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit attached to Carrick-on-Shannon searched two premises in Co. Leitrim yesterday (4/2/13) and seized Cannabis Plants with an estimated street value of €490,000 (subject to analysis).

A house was searched in the Kilclare area of Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim at approximately 3.30pm yesterday (4/2/13) Cannabis Plants with an estimated street value of €240,000 were seized. A 44year old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Manorhamilton Garda Station under Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.  

In a separate investigation a premises in the Aughamore area of Carrick-on-Shannon was searched, during the course of this search Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €250,000 were seized. A 41 year old man was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station under Section 2- Criminal Justice(Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.   

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
