Male arrested and firearm recovered in Coolock, Dublin on the 17/12/13

A male has been arrested and a replica firearm recovered following an incident in Coolock on the 17th December 2013.

At approximately 2.30am Gardai attended the scene of an incident at Greencastle Road, Coolock. During the incident a male aged in his 20s threatened Gardai and members of the public at gun point. The area was sealed off and following a stand off a male was arrested. A replica firearm was recovered by Gardai at the scene. 
 

The male is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Coolock Garda Station. 
 

The scene was attended by armed Gardai who discharged one shot during the incident. There was no one injured. 
 

The scene is preserved for a technical examination. 
 

An Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has been notified. 
 

The investigation is ongoing.
