Garda Commissioner welcomes the publication of the 2011 Annual CAB Report

The Garda Commissioner today welcomed the publication of the 2011 CAB Annual Report:

"The publication today of the report highlights the continuing efforts of the agency to recoup monies for the Exchequer, reflected in the sum of €3.8m being forwarded arising out of its investigations.

These investigations are targeted and intelligence led, and utilise a multi-agency approach. CAB, along with all other units within An Garda Síochána, will continue to liaise with their international partners and develop relationships with same.”

Commissioner Callinan highlighted the importance of the use of modern policing strategies:

"As I have outlined in our 2013 Policing Plan, An Garda Síochána will continue to target serious organised criminals operating and national and international levels in the most efficient manner, and using advanced policing methodologies.”

In conclusion, he stated:

"The important and pioneering work carried out by CAB continues to lead the way in the dismantling of criminal networks, and the recouping of money for the Central Exchequer. This work cannot be completed without the continued excellent support of the members of the public working together with members of An Garda Síochána. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them, and to assure them that An Garda Síochána will continue to provide an effective and successul national police force in the current difficult cirumstances.”
