Murder of Melanie McNamara in Tallaght on the 7/2/12 – Court appearance

A male in his late teens is scheduled to appear before Tallaght District Court tomorrow morning charged in connection with the murder of Melanie McNamara on the 7th February 2012.

Gardai in Tallaght have today, 21st February, 2012 charged a 23 year old man in relation to the murder of Melanie McNamara on the 7th February, 2012.


He will appear later today at Tallaght District Court.

Gardaí in Tallaght investigating the murder of Melanie Mc Namara have today (16/2/12) arrested two males (early 20’s and late teens)  

 
Both men were arrested in Athy Co Kildare following a Garda operation involving Gardaí from Tallaght, The National Bureau Of Criminal Investigation and local Gardaí from Kildare.  

 
The men are detained in Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a female in Tallaght on the 7th February 2012.  

 
At approximately 1035pm a 16 year old female sustained serious injuries when a firearm was discharged from a passing vehicle into the parked car that she was a passenger in at Brookview Way, Tallaght. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Tallaght Hospital for a post mortem examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.  

 
An incident room has been set up a Tallaght Garda Station and investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses.  

 
The scene is preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
