Gardai have arrested one man and seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition in a search operation in the Northern Cross, Co.Dublin area close to the N32.
The operation began in the early hour of this morning, 4th October 2012, and was carried out by officers from the Northern Division, supported by Gardaí for the Special Detective Unit, the Emergency Response Unit, the National Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Garda Air Support Unit, as well as Gardaí from the Garda Dog and Mounted Units.
During the course of the search a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition were seized. A man in his late 20's was arrested at the scene, he is detained at Coolock Garda Station under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act 1939.
The operation is ongoing and further updates will be issued.
