Discovery of the body of a female on Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin on the 29/1/12 - Update

Gardai investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a woman at Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7, on the 29th January 2012 have launched a murder investigation.

A black female in her mid 20's was discovered in a luggage bag on the pavement  at St David’s Terrace,  Blackhorse Avenue, at approximately 8.30am this morning the 29th January 2012.
 
The deputy State Pathologist Dr. Curtis attended the scene and a post mortem was carried out at the City Morgue by Dr Curtis on the body of the female.
 
Gardai believe that the luggage bag was placed on the street at some stage yesterday afternoon or evening prior to 7pm on the 28th Jan 2012.
 
Gardai are appealing to any person who may have any information  in particular anyone who may have seen unusual or suspicious behaviour in and around  Blackhorse Ave or North Circular Road  yesterday the 28th January 2012,  to contact them at the  Bridewell Garda Station on 01 6668200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a woman at Blackhorse Ave., Dublin 7, on the 29th January 2012.

The discovery was made at approximately 830am at St David’s Tce., on Blackhorse Ave. The State Pathologist has been notified and the scene is preserved pending a full forensic and technical examination.

The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
